Opening your Christmas presents at this time of the day makes you “vulgar,” according to the etiquette experts at Tatler.

Most kids are tugging at their parents’ duvet by about 6 a.m. on Christmas morning, but the high-society Bible has thrown shade at those of us who open our gifts before breakfast.

In fact, they’ve suggested it would be best to wait until after lunch and “a bracing walk” to unwrap those carefully chosen gifts.

In a column on festive etiquette, the magazine’s writers said: “Are you one of those families who open their presents before breakfast on Christmas Day?

“Oh dear. That’s considered a bit vulgar and unbridled. Sorry, we didn’t make the rules, it just is.”

According to the posh mag, it’s perfectly fine to dig into your stockings as soon as you wake up — but this is where the fun ends.

“For presents under the tree it is generally considered more acceptable to wait until that lull between the morning church service and lunch,” the column continued.

“If you’re very grand, you may even wait until after lunch and a bracing walk, but this also requires you to have children with the self-control of an ancient yogi.”

Luckily for most of us, our families probably aren’t posh enough to hold us to this rule.
